Sherlock Holmes Comes 2nd with $65M
SUNDAY UPDATE: “Avatar,” $75; “Sherlock Holmes,” $65M; & “Chipmunks” take $50M. It was the top grossing weekend of all time as this Friday-Saturday-Sunday looks to make $278M.

Box Office Spy Blog reports Sherlock Holmes took the number one spot on Christmas day raking in $24.9 million for the opening day of the movie. The movie stars Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law who serve as detectives and was directed by Guy Ritchie. Some reports are already showing that “Sherlock Holmes” has beaten out “Avatar” by a small margin for the top spot.
“It’s Complicated” came in fourth place which stars Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin.
