Hollywood’s best and worst of 2009 (and beyond)

Fans of science fiction and animation might mistake 2009 as a great year. Those of us who appreciate the bigger picture, however, will recognize it as a good year with pockets of greatness but more than enough stinkers to balance out the scales. Ranking films is never fun. I might like a movie in June, but love it the following January. So, here are the 20 films – well, 19 films and one fantastic sequence – that moved me this year. I’m also listing 10 that absolutely missed the mark, and 10 for which I’m salivating in 2010.
