M.I.A. and Dixie Chicks get ready for new albums

CMT reports that the Dixie Chicks and M.I.A. are all gearing up to release albums later this year. With a surprise move, Martie Maguire and Emily Robison are working on a new project without Dixie Chick lead singer Natalie Maines. But, Maines’ father says that the Dixie Chicks are still a whole entity, it just seems as if they are ready to go on separate endeavors for now.

Also working on a new album is M.I.A., for a follow up to her hit “Kala.” She is set to hit the studio for five straight months in hopes for a summer release. So far, the current politics have been lending inspiration to the singer with tracks already claiming the titles “I Fight the Ones that Fight Me” and “I’m Down Like Your Internet Connection.” She told NME, “It’s my third album and I have to kind of confront whether I am a musician or not… I wanted to make something that you could play that isn’t like trendy just for three months, or the length of a DJ’s attention span.”

It looks like this summer will be another packed year with big releases.
