Fog of War Editor Karen Schmeer killed in NYC

Accalimed editor Karen Schmeer, who was known for editing for many years with Errol Morris, died last night in New York City. Indiewire reports that she was hit by a car fleeing the scene of a burglary in Manhattan. She won an award at last year’s Sundance for her editing on the film “Sergio,” and had an editing history that was highly respectable.

Morris tweeted that Scheemer’s death was a “senseless tragedy.” Schmeer was currently working on a documentary with Liz Garbus.

Very, very sad news. She was great. What a pity. May God bless her.
