New images, release date for ‘Split/Second’

One title we can’t wait to get our hands on is “Split/Second,” an action racing game from Black Rock Studio that looks like the offspring of “Death Race,” “Survivor” and “Gone in 60 Seconds.” That’s a good thing.

And now we know when it’s coming. Disney Interactive Studios just informed HollywoodNews.com that the release date for “Split/Second” will be Tuesday, May 18. It will be available for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Windows PC.

In the game, players get behind the wheel of smoking-hot race cars and dodge disasters as they beat the clock for the benefit of a reality-television program. Levels reportedly include a bustling metropolis that is wired to explode and a seaside dock that’s crumbling around the driver’s ears.

To help us pass the time, Disney Interactive included new screenshots and the cover art for the game. We’ve posted them below.
