Tina Fey, Sarah Palin and 30 Rock weddings

Losing the election and resigning as governor of Alaska hasn’t stopped Sarah Palin from making news, so it won’t stop Tina Fey from making fun of her. Fey famously impersonated Palin during Saturday Night Live’s election spoofs, even after Fey had left the show. Palin may be back on an upcoming SNL, and Fey definitely will be. “I’m hosting SNL April 10th and so I’m sure that we will try something,” Fey said. “You always try and then you see if it sticks at dress rehearsal, but yeah, tune in. You’ll see what we do.”
Fey will likely be promoting her new movie Date Night, since it opens April 9. She also has her TV show 30 Rock building up to the season finale. The last episode had Liz Lemon (Fey’s character) suckered into helping with her ex-boyfriend’s impending wedding.
“Yes, we are building to a multi-wedding season finale,” Fey said. “It’s good, because apparently people like weddings so we’re just trying to do a bunch of weddings.”
Everyone, that is, except for Liz Lemon. Expect to see Fey lampoon typical romantic comedies like 27 Dresses, where adorable heroines get into high concept wedding confusion.
“I think it’ll be our version,” Fey said. “I think Liz ends up actually having to have a function in three weddings on the same day.”
30 Rock has also been exploring a subplot where a cable company called Kabletown is buying NBC. It is a thinly veiled spoof of NBC’s possible sale to real life cable giant Comcast. Fey said her bosses have let her go wild. “Yeah, they’ve been very game.”
Now in its fourth season, 30 Rock seems to be going stronger than ever. Fey has no plans of wrapping it up any time soon. “Well, I feel constant fatigue but I think we’ll see. We’ll keep going until we can’t anymore. I won’t know until I’m there.”
30 Rock airs Thursday nights on NBC.
