Vanessa Hudgens lands Rent musical role
Vanessa Hudgens can usually be seen hand in hand with boyfriend Zac Efron, but when she’s not she’s usually strutting her stuff she can be seen in a variety of movies. First getting her start in the heartbreaking real life drama “Thirteen,” she proved that she can act. But the role that really put her on the scene was her role as Gabriella Montez in the “High School Musical” series, which pretty much dominated the hearts of every young tween in America. She then delved into the music world releasing her first album entitled, “V” in 2006, so singing is no foreign category for her.
Now MTV UK reports that she has landed a role in the upcoming Hollywood version of the Rent musical that is set to hit the Hollywood Bowl this summer. She will be playing an HIV positive heroin addict directed by Neil Patrick Harris.
Harris commented on the actress, “She came in for a work session, and I must say, Vanessa really impressed, She looks amazing, has great vocal chops and seems really committed to honouring the somewhat iconic role of Mimi.”
It will be great to see her back in her dramatic roles as the one that launched her in “Thirteen.”
