Cirque du Soleil announces Michael Jackson based show

The Cirque du Soleil shows are some of the best out there to date. After seeing almost all of them throughout the traveling shows as well as the ones at Vegas, it gets me every time. Not only with every show do they pull stunts that are unimaginable, but the storytelling that they provide lets you escape into a dream world for two hours. I wouldn’t be surprised is Lady Gaga gets some clothing inspiration from the costumes they wear in the shows. They recently opened a show in Las Vegas called “Elvis” to celebrate the music of an icon. Before that they opened a “Beatles” show that even featured a skating ramp in the middle of the stage. Now they are back to bring the music of Michael Jackson alive in the unique Cirque fashion.

AP reports that the new touring show will start late next year and then will follow in 2012 with a permanent residency in Las Vegas on a property owned by MGM Mirage Inc. They report that in a 50/50 split, Cirque du Soleil and the Jackson estate will split the cost. Co-executor of the estate, John Branca, stated, “Having attended Cirque du Soleil performances with Michael, I know he was a huge fan. We are excited to be partners with Cirque du Soleil to give Michael’s fans a truly unique way to hear, see and feel Michael’s music.”

We can’t wait for this show to open.
