Javier Bardem: The Tuesday Morning Man

He was a scary assassin with a really unfortunate haircut in No Country For Old Men.
But Javier Bardem is usually a real heartthrob as you can see in these photos.

I had barely heard of him back in 2001 when I interviewed him on the morning he was nominated for an Academy Award for best actor for his performance in Before Night Falls. He was calling from Spain and was so excited about his first Oscar nod.

Then seven years later, I met him in person at the annual Oscar nominees luncheon.
