“Glee” flexes the power of Madonna

By Rebecca Ford

Last night’s long-awaited Madonna musical episode of “Glee” filled the halls of McKinley High School with the Madge-ical sounds of “Vogue,” “Express Yourself” and “Like a Virgin.” One of the strongest musical episodes yet, “The Power of Madonna” was a sublime combination of the fresh talents of the “Glee” cast and the classic hits of the Queen of Pop.

As Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) attempted to perfect her Cheerios’ Madonna dance routine, she inspired Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) to bring Madonna’s music to the glee club. At the same time, Kurt and Mercedes joined the Cheerios to get more time in the spotlight and Finn and Rachel tried to move on from each other.

The highlight of last night’s episode was Sue Sylvester’s singing debut and makeover for the glee club’s remake of Madonna’s “Vogue” video. She ditched her “Florence Henderson” haircut and tracksuit for the sexy moves of Madge.
