Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment made it official this morning, announcing that James Cameron’s “Avatar” is now the best selling Blu-ray of all time after four days in stores.

Fox said “Avatar” moved 2.7 million units in North America, topping the previous record of 2.5 million units held by Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight.”

Retail sales of “Avatar” Blu-ray and DVD discs have exceeded 6.7 million units since its launch last Thursday. According to Fox, it is on pace to be the best selling title in recent history.
