Getting to know “Pirates 4’s” Astrid Bergès-Frisbey
So exactly who is Astrid Bergès-Frisbey?
For starters, fanboys should memorize her name as the next, cool “it” girl onscreen a la Kiera Knightly.
And for those who’ve forgotten already who she is, People magazine reminds us that Bergès-Frisbey is the mermaid Syrena in Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”
Bergès-Frisbey will play opposite Johnny Depp and the franchise’s other new cast member Penelope Cruz. Production starts in June, helmed by Rob Marshall (“Nine”).
A French actress, who studied at the Cours Simon drama school, Bergès-Frisbey came to her countrymen’s attention in the 2008 TV miniseries “She and I” opposite Danielle Darrieux. The same year, she appeared in her first feature “A Bridge Against the Pacific” in Cambodia opposite the French actor Gaspard Ulliel. The new “Pirates” beauty is also a model for French Connection’s 2010 spring line.
Stylelist goes so far to say that Bergès-Frisbey was a shoe-in for the role, because she’s, um, not so buxom:
“Once considered a requirement for any actress looking to get a job, implants have now become a no-no — casting directors for the fourth installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean” expressly forbid actresses with breast implants from auditioning. And if you think you can hide them, think again; the notice goes on to say there will be a “show and tell” test, which includes activities like running.”
Still, guys if you’re thinking about bringing Bergès-Frisbey flowers, know that she likes Facebook, soccer and is an avid world traveler.
