Follow your favorite Twilight stars on Twitter: Part 1

By Kim Palacios

Ever wonder what the stars of the Twilight Saga films are up to in real life? Many have taken a special liking to Twitter. But, be careful– you’d be surprised by how many people who are NOT celebrities secure Twitter accounts with celeb names and tweet as if they were a famous person.

Lucky for us, Twitter has developed a process to verify accounts, and puts a special “verified account” check mark on those that have been confirmed as belonging to the represented person. Here are the verified Twitter handles of some of your favorite Twilight stars:

@peterfacinelli With more than 1.5 million followers, Peter Facinelli has relied heavily upon Twitter to connect with fans. He tweets about his whereabouts (specifically, upcoming fan appearances), retweets links to both funny and socially important items, and keeps fans updated on his many projects, including “Twilight” and “Nurse Jackie”

@AshleyMGreene With nearly half a million followers, Ashley Greene’s page reads more like your best friend’s. She tweets about what she’s up to and goes back and forth online with her personal buds

@gilbirmingham With over 80,000 followers, Gil Birmingham tweets about his appearances and upcoming projects. Recent tweets include an announcement about an upcoming film in which he will appear with Chaske Spencer, and an upcoming appearance at an Official Twilight Convention

@cserratos With about 80,000 followers, Christian Serratos strikes a good balance between talking about what she’s up to, sharing links and pics, and chatting with friends

@thealexmeraz Wolfpacker Alex Meraz has just shy of 80,000 followers. Unlike the intense character he plays in “New Moon”, his tweets reflect the personality of a fun-loving energetic soul with a well-developed sense of humor

Stay tuned for Part 2 of my piece on Twilight stars on Twitter, where I’ll list follow links to unverified (but probably-the-real-thing) stars.
