The passion of the wife?

By Staff

After splitting from his girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva last month, Mel Gibson yearns to be back in the loving arms of his wife Robyn.

Gibson, star of “Edge of Darkness,” left his wife fours years ago for another woman.

“He’s still in love with Robyn, he realises he made a huge mistake leaving her,” a source blurted to the National Enquirer.

“Robyn is not only the mother of his seven children, she’s been a major source of strength for Mel throughout his life. Without her around we’re worried he’ll fall to pieces.”

Gibson has been unabashed about identifying himself as a Roman Catholic. Sidestepping a divorce avoids an annulment by the church which needs to be processed by the Vatican.

Digital Spy picked up the story from the Enquirer.

“Darkness” hits DVD shelves on May 11. Currently, Gibson is filming the prison drama “How I Spent My Summer Vacation” from a script he co-wrote.
