Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban ask country fans to help Tennessee
Hollywoodnews.com: Nashville’s most recognizable residents, who also happen to be country music’s largest stars, are stepping up and showing their support for Tennessee as the state continues to struggle with rising floodwaters due to torrential downpours.
Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and his A-list wife, Nicole Kidman, are just a few of the country megastars who have donated money and time to relief efforts in Tennessee. Chesney even took to the Internet to show fans the devastation, posting clips of flooded areas on YouTube as he asked for financial aid and support.
“This city is really hurting now,” Chesney said during an appearance on Anderson Cooper’s CNN show, according to the L.A. Times. “You watch on the news and you see all this stuff happen around the world, but, you know, this has really had an effect on this town and on this state and it’s a really tough thing for people to deal with, including me.”
Swift reached into her own pocket, donating $500,000 to Nashville’s recovery efforts. “Nashville is my home, and … the reason why I get to do what I love,” the singer said in an e-mail to the AP. “I have always been proud to be a Nashvillian, but especially now, seeing the love that runs through this city when there are people in crisis.”
On his Twitter page, Chesney encouraged fans to donate to the Nashville Area Red Cross if they felt compelled to help.
