“Fandemonium” worsens with each Twilight film

By Kim Palacios

Hollywoodnews.com: With the release of the first Twilight Saga book approaching its fourth birthday, one might think that the hype has died down. Though this may be true of the books, to the extent that “Twilight’s” principal stars have skyrocketed to international fame, “fandemonium” has become more insane than ever.

Take this week’s Oprah Show taping. Second only to rumors about Rob’s “Kristen is pregnant” line and speculation about their relationship status, were accounts of the mob scene that ensued when fans crowded the exit after the show. Multiple reports and video clips from phones showed SUVs holding Twilight stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner being (quite literally) stormed. In the absence of barricades, some fans pounced on the vehicle, banging on car windows in a way some witnesses admitted crossed a line of propriety; what may have been flattering to the stars declined into something bordering grotesque.

Such intrusions seem to be bothering the stars more, too. Kristen spoke out recently during interviews with both Elle and Flaunt Magazines. She spoke of being followed, of being screamed at by paparazzi and fans, and fearing to drive alone, at times, given a lack of respect for her boundaries. Even Rob, in a March episode of The View, spoke of a crowd-driven panic attack during a certain red carpet premiere.

So here’s the $64,000 question for every Twilight fan: if we really love them, why do we treat them like this? Shouldn’t we advocate for their privacy and respect their space?

For serious. I don’t get it. I’m a fan, but I have no desire to seek these kids out in person. I appreciate the movies, like watching promotional junkets, and that’s good enough for me. I think trying to seek them out in person is just awkward, what do you say: “Hi, you don’t know me, but I google you daily.”

Here’s my problem with the fandom—tweens and teens can act like freaks cause that’s what they are suppossed to do at that age. But it’s the adults that are turning this into something weird. Grown women should not be chasing after Robert in the streets. They shouldn’t be asking Kristen for autographs in restaurants or gas stations. it’s not appropriate as a grown up to “want” something from them beyond the movies and all the other stuff we get from them as public figures. WE all don’t need a “special” moment from them personally – we are not entitled to it. I just wish the ADULTS(I’m 28 myself) would just back off all of their jock straps and let the kids do the freaky stuff. Step back, keep your robert photo file on your desktop, giggle at him on your DVD — but stop trying to pursue or make contact with them in real life. it’s creepy and age inappropriate.

I have never wanted to pursue or touch a celebrity. I am now an adult and only like to see their movies or television shows and any promotional junkets that they are doing. I go to two websites that relate to Robert Pattinson and his career and plus other entertainment sites because I love the film industry. When I see articles relating to Robert and Kristen plus the other Twilight cast the comments amaze me. Leave these individuals alone, all they owe you is a good performance and movie or show. If you go to a venue where they are walking the red carpet for a premiere or a taping of a show be respectful. Is that too much to ask?.

We can’t blame the twihard fans if they feel that way because they are overzealous fans of the franchise. But then they have to keep in mind that Robert ,Kristen and the rest of the cast are just human like us that need privacy. I admit that I’m 25 years old but I’m really obsess with twilight. I always use google and yahoo to become updated with the twilight franchise and the cast esp. robert and kristen.
Here in my country Philippines, the twilight saga is very popular even to my pupils who are in the first grade they know bella and edward.

What scares me more than anything are the divisions in the fandom. Usually something this popular has a large following but everyone is united in their passion for the story and the people who star in it. Not true for Twilight. There are a strong anti-Kristen followings and strong anti-Rob followings and each side hates the other.

It’s very disturbing to see these two groups post physical threats against Kristen and Rob. I’ve never seen anything like that before and it’s very frightening to read posts where someone wants to “hunt them down and seriously injure” either one of these young stars. There are actual comment threads where people discuss plans to go where they will be at an event and physically attack them or throw things at them if they can get close enough. It’s hard to understand comments about wanting them to die in plane crashes or other kinds of accidents. Why is this happening?

Scummit is a BIG fail when it comes to security for Rob and Kristen…remember when Rob was in New York? Fans banging on the vans at Oprah is proof scummit still totes ignores security measures for them. I don’t understand why this continues to be a problem and scummit is letting it happen.

It’s gone beyond crazy and it’s not fun now for me and my friends. We love Rob and Kristen and will see their future movies but we’re losing interest in Twilight because of the crazy fans and we’re not like that. We feel so bad for Rob and Kristen and can’t wait for them to be done with scummit and these movies!

for the first time I actually enjoyed reading comments made on the twilght saga and robert and kristen. I am totally afraid for kristen because women are so obsessed with rob. and I am equally worried for him because kristen is who he appears to want and love. Kristen has said things that apparently upset some folks, but I don’t see why? if you really look at this situation it has gone way pass stalking and being obsessed, it is freakin scary as hell now! no one should have to put up with the lies and hate these two deal with on a regular
basis. I wish the production company would actually threaten not to produce the last installment and stop all Q&A until the madness stops. this is the first in history I have witness anything like this! and the public tends to think kristen and rob owe them for purchasing the tickets to the movie? it is not worth all the money in the world to endure what these two have and I think something should be done to end this madness before someone gets hurt.
I guess we have not learned from princess diana and her man! we need some kind of censorship to those hate sites like showbiz spy, new del hi chronical, zeigesrt report, cnm news network, newpost online, hollywoodlife, fox411 in2town, vip breakdown they are all untied in one cause… hate and more hate and it needs to stop! they need to be stopped and maybe then real twilight fans and not obsessed women and or men can enjoy the romance stephanie meyer gave us!
