Betty White fans want icon to host next year’s Oscars The tidal wave of Betty White love continues to crash in waves upon Hollywood’s golden shores.

Not content with the knowledge that the tech-savvy supporters won White the chance to host “Saturday Night Live,” fans now have created a Facebook page lobbying for White to host the Oscars, according to the BBC.

And why not? White powered “SNL” to its highest ratings since November 2008. And while critics hurled daggers at the show’s writers — who repeatedly went blue by making White say all kinds of dirty things — they had nothing but wonderful things to say about the 88-year-old comedian.

The BBC says White “has not yet indicated whether she would like to host the Oscars.” We think she’d be an inspired choice, providing she feels up to the challenge. Next year’s Academy Awards ceremony is due to take place on Feb. 27.
