Twilight’s Kellan Lutz raises profile, scores big with fans

By Kim Palacios

hollywoodnews.com:Are you Team Emmett? If so, it’s getting a lot easier to get close to Kellan. Recent weeks have seen him become more accessible to fans. Though some appearances were to be expected, given obligations to promote his recent projects, in terms of his holistic persona, he’s really stepped up his game.

The most obvious development is his adoption of Twitter (@kellanlutz), which he joined near the end of April. His tweets so far have focused on raising awareness about socially important causes such as the BP oil spill, ongoing recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the floods in Nashville, and child and animal abuse.

In addition to spreading awareness, Kellan’s also known for spreading love. On Twitter, he’s wished fans happy birthday and good luck on tests, and the hugs he gives to fans in person are legendary. Per his own comment in a recent interview with People Magazine, Kellan’s preferred greeting is a hug. “Come give me a hug. I love hugging. You’ll get more germs breathing than you will touching someone. A hug and some kind words can change the world.”

Fans who attended his May 15th appearance at Macy’s on Herald Square to promote the Calvin Klein X underwear campaign in which he appears also reported his enthusiasm for getting close. His preeminent fan tribute site, Kellan Lutz Online, reported that he went beyond attending the photo op session alone and visited some fans in the long line.

There is also great news for fans who would love to see Kellan in conjunction with his work with Twilight. Though he seldom attends the Official Twilight Convention, Creation Entertainment has confirmed him for upcoming dates in Boston, Toronto, Minneapolis, and Chicago.

Perhaps the best news yet is that we can only expect to see more of Kellan as his career continues to flourish. If the success of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and recent rumors of contentious salary negotiations between he and Summit are fair indicators, his stock is going way up!
