Adam Lambert wows crowd at Wango!

By Greg Hernandez

hollywoodnews.com: I love posting about Adam Lambert and I’ll tell you why: he’s not only an exciting performer and fascinating personality, but he’s a hard-working professional who gives the audiences all he’s got.

It’s so impressive what Adam has accomplished in just over a year and what is most refreshing is that he seems to be enjoying every minute of it.

He performed Saturday night at Staples Center, where L.A.’s pop-radio powerhouse KIIS-FM (102.7) presented its annual Wango Tango concert (see video below). People not only buzzed about his singing, they were also intrigued by the harem pants he was wearing. Adam always keeps it interesting!

Also, The Idolator site caught up with Adam at Wango. Here is an excerpt of that interview:

We recently posted a list of all the movie musicals we think you should star in, like a remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show or the American Idiot movie currently in development. Are you on the lookout for a film role?

I think right now I’m just focusing on my music and making videos and touring. I start the Glam Nation tour in June. It’s gonna be all over North America for the next three months, then I think I have some dates in Europe.

and I love following Adam Lambert. I can’t tell you why but I do. I find him refreshing and unique. I love his style, his confidence, his loyalty to his friends but most of all I love his vocals. That guy can sing!!

According to Adam’s UK fans that haircut he has and those pants are quite popular in the UK. They called the haircut feathering. What I like about Adam Lambert is he always keeps things interesting. He was a great sense of style, great vocals and by all accounts he is a really kind hearted soul. He just did a music video shoot and invited all his friends to be a part of it. He had another friend shoot the cover of his new single “If I Had You”. He constantly promotes his friends careers. Just this last weekend he tweeted his half million followers to vote for his friend’s music video to be #1 even though Adam’s own video was up for the same contest. He’s close with his family and still has the same group of close friends who speak highly of his character and integrity. All those who have worked with him say he is polite, charming and always prepared. It’s hard not to like the guy.

I am a 64 yr young grandmother but I think Adam lambert is unbelievable. He reminds me somewhat of Elvis when he was young. Dare I say his vocals are even better than the “king”.
Ada keep up the great work and look forward to seeing you this summer in Settle.

Adam changed my life forever in a positive way. I am a straight person so you think it’s because…NO. It’s about Adam as a person, about his courage to remaining true to his mission as an artist (regardless circumstances), about remaining loyal to his friends, living in honesty and remaining unfazed when the fame hits.

He is a class act and example to follow.

Well, I have never been a passionate fan of anybody until Adam Lambert came along. He wowed me from the moment when he stepped on that stage at American Idol and once he performed “Ring Of Fire” I was simply blown away and I knew that he is very unique in his artistic expression. His talent as a performer and singer is out-of-this-world, but there is so much more to Adam that simply makes you fall in love with him over and over again.

Great review. Thank you. By all accounts, Adam Lambert is an awesome live performer. Incredible vocals, charisma and stage presence. This video and others of his Wango Tango performance more than confirm this. I wish he had more Glam Nation tour dates scheduled for Canada. I so so so much want to see him live.

My mother and father wouldn’t get me Adam’s CD for Christmas. They said he was a bad influence. Since then they have totally changed their mind. My mom is even taking me to one of his concerts for my birthday!! Yeah!! I even kind of suspect she is using me as an excuse to go herself. She’s letting me take one of my friends with me too. I come home from school ever day and listen to his CD. I’ve caught both my mom and dad knowing the lyrics and singing along. I just got home 20 minutes ago and have spun the CD once through. I even turned the volume up high and my mother hasn’t said a thing and she always complains when I put other CD’s in if the volume is high.

Greg, you hit the nail on the head. Adam Lambert IS exciting and fascinating, and oh so much more. As others have said, he is self-confident but humble, gracious, charismtic, supportive, encouraging, loving, mannerly, stylish, intelligent, charming, and is full of heart and soul. He pours every ounce of himself into everything he does – for us. And he looks and sounds great while he’s doing it! What a gifted, handsome man he is!

As Meatloaf said, some people don’t yet realize how great he is. But I suspect that will change.

Forgot to mention the hard-working part. He makes me tired just thinking about how much he accomplishes, all while maintaining the highest level of quality and perfection as he does it. Ricky Minor and others from Idol have only good to say about Adam. Always prepared, nice kid, always gives more than he gets. That speaks volumes.

Greg: Thank you for the great review of ADAM’s performance. It is quite refreshing to read a review by someone who is both knowledgeable & unbiased. Unlike other reviewers in your area who have never had anything nice to say about ADAM. After watching his performances provided here & on Ytube it is apparent that ADAM truly is a UNIQUE TALENT …. one which I feel so privileged to watch from Day 1 on American Idol to the present. To me his VOICE and INATE ability to ENTERTAIN are INCOMPARABLE in today’s music industry & I look forward to more from this REMARKABLE young man .. plus I LOVE his sense of FASHION as well!!!

Thanks Greg for posting such an excellent review. By the twitter and youtube accounts, his performance was amazing vocally and he acquired many new fans.

Thank you Mr. Hernandez for such a positive and true article. You always do your homework and follow Adam Lambert. That’s what makes you and your articles stand above the rest. I just love Adam Lambert. He’s fascinating and I will always be grateful to AI for bringing him to us. His charismatic personality outshines his peers. After mentoring and performing on this season’s AI, Adam had nothing but praise for the show as always. He said that he owes the show everything. What a gracious sole. Artists such as Usher and Lady Gaga should take note of Adam Lambert. After Usher mentored and performed and after Lady Gaga performed, they each quickly filled the media with criticisms of the show. Not very classy for supposed “professionals”. Yes, the media and other idols’ fans will take pot shots at Adam solely because he is polarizing and different, but their jealousy only makes Adam shine the more. Kudos to you for keeping it real !!

Thanks for your review, Greg. There seem to be a lot of bloggers and freelancers who are finding reasons to nitpick his performance. His vocals were spot-on and he always gives 100 percent to the audience, as well as changing it up on a nightly basis. While I prefer he tour on his own, as he will, so he’ll get a full set, I am glad he had the chance to do Wango Tango to get a chance to introduce himself to new fans!

Greg, you have great taste in music, I was at the wango tango and Adam was great, His voice is just as good live if not better then on his CD, that is a rarity…most have to lip sinc. He is the real deal. Thanks for the article. Jerry

    Adam rocks our world!

Thanks for this positive and accurate review of Adam. So many reviewers find it very cool to be negative about Adam? He is probably one of the best male pop vocalists of all time. Is that why some reviewers hate on him so much? Is it jealousy or just wanting to appear discerning? And why are some DJs so reluctant to play his music? I think I know why. It makes me very sad.

    Greg:
I enjoyed reading your article about Adam at Wango Tango. I have to agree with your comments and those of the others. I saw Adam on AI for the first time when he sang Satisfaction. I was literally blown away. Each week he facinated me in a different way. I don’t think he could get any more incredible and then he sings WWFM or IIHY in a unique way and I’m in love with him all over again. I believe he has the best vocals of any male singer in the world today. Can’t wait for IIHY music video.

    Molly:
Just wait Adam is just beginning his career. I get frustrated at times about how negative some reporters are re: Adam. Remember, some are just saying things to get a hit on their site. I will say that I have read some comments from Justin Bieber fans who really enjoyed Adam’s performance at Wango Tango. His sales went up 58 % in 24 hours. Just maybe some of Bieber fans have been converted. Hope so.
