Ashley Greene may join the cast of “Scream 4”
By Kim Palacios
An exclusive rumor was posted this morning, via The Hollywood Reporter, that Ashley Greene is being considered to star in the upcoming sequel to three predecessors in the “Scream” franchise. Helmed once again by Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson, 2011 will see the release of “Scream 4”.
The rumor seemed credible. Not only did it go beyond reporting a possibility that Greene would be joining the film, it specifically named the character for which she is being considered. Neve Campbell will be reprising her role as Sidney; Greene’s rumored role would be that of Sidney’s cousin, Jill. The role could be a major step up for Greene—“Scream” is another heavy-hitting franchise, and Hollywood Reporter describes the Jill character as “the heroine of the film.”
Other elements lending credibility to the rumor are the fact that additional actors under consideration have been named. Hayden Panettiere’s name has come up for the role of Jill’s nerdy best friend. Rory Culkin may be chosen for the role of a potential love interest for Jill. Lake Bell may play a policewoman with a connection to Sidney.
Shooting is rumored to begin in June, a date that gells with my earlier suspicion that Ashley Greene was at the center of recent salary controversy due to a number of competing offers. In addition to being offered higher-profile, if not leading, roles (as the Jill role in “Scream 4” seems like it might be), Greene may have reached a level of status where her compensation offers surpass that of “Breaking Dawn”.
