“Jackie Brown” prequel in works, Tarantino not attached

Hollywoodnews.com: There’s a prequel to Quentin Tarantino’s “Jackie Brown” in the works, but the auteur is not attached.

Writer-director Dan Schechter is assembling the new film, adapted from Elmore Leonard’s own novel “The Switch.”

Per U.K.’s Empire magazine, prequel finds younger version of Samuel L. Jackson’s character Ordell Robbie and Robert De Niro’s Louis Gara becoming friends in prison. Upon being sprung they plot to kidnap a wealthy property developer’s wife for a large sum. When her husband fails to take her back, she joins forces with Ordell and Louis in a financial scheme to bring her husband down.

The magazine also reports via JBlo that Tarantino has given the project his blessing.

Schechter has written the script with no studio yet attached to make it.
