Lee DeWyze is the 2010 American Idol
Hollywoodnews.com: Lee DeWyze was crowned the 2010 “American Idol” champion in a ceremony that also gave a warm-hearted goodbye to lead judge and producer Simon Cowell.
Night’s highlights included a performance by Alice Cooper and Crystal Bowersox’s duet with Alanis Morissette – a moment, according to the L.A. Times exhibited “that she (Bowersox), more than any other Season 9 finalist, deserved to be standing on that stage.” Also Paula Abdul gave a sweet tribute to Cowell.
DeWyze won over judges and voters with his raw power and down-to-earth sensibility, not to mention his choice of classic songs like Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Boxer” versus Bowersox’s more eclectic line-up. Also, the show tends to laud those who are a bit wet behind their ears and grow, like DeWyze, versus the more experienced (i.e. Bowersox was as seasoned as former “Idol” runner-up, Melinda Doolittle).
DeWyze hails from Mount Prospect, Illinois.
