Twilight actor Elisabeth Reaser talks about “Eclipse”

By Kim Palacios

HollywoodNews.com: We hadn’t seen much from Elisabeth Reaser in terms of “Eclipse” promotion until an interview clip of her appeared on Hollywood Crush this morning. In her conversation with the MTV affiliate, Reaser talked about getting fit for the films in the context of co-stars, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.

Said Reaser, “Taylor doesn’t even have to train. He can just stand there and do a back flip for no reason, using 5% of his energy. He’s just so fit.” When interviewer Jocelyn Vena followed up by asking Reaser how training was for Rob and whether she thought he was a “gym dude”, Reaser admitted she was impressed. “He worked really hard and he’s a great actor, so he really committed to what he was doing and looked great in the stuff that I saw.”

In a May 6th Los Angeles Times article, Reaser commented not on the production of “Eclipse” but of the development of the story and its characters. “The whole family is in a vulnerable position because of the love we have for Bella. If she’s not OK, we’re not OK.” Of her own character, Esme Cullen, matriarch of the “good vamp” Cullen clan, Reaser made an encouraging comment: “Esme is still a vampire. She still wants to kill people all day long.”

Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight books have come under fire by literary snobs for a number of “crimes of character”—Esme Cullen in particular has been regarded as lacking depth and bland. Reaser, the actress, however, is loved by fans, and her comment could signal an extra spark she will bring to the character in the “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn” films.
