Twilight’s Ashley Green will not play Jill character in “Scream 4”

By Kim Palacios

hollywoodnews.com: Rumors earlier this month of Ashley Green’s confirmation for Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson’s “Scream 4” turned out to be just that. Entertainment Weekly reported today that Emma Roberts will play the role of Jill, for which Ashley Green was said to be slated.

Neve Campbell will be reprising her role as Sidney; as the rumor went, Greene’s role would be that of Sidney’s cousin, Jill. The role would have been a major step up for Greene, as Jill has been described by Hollywood Reporter as “the heroine of the film”. Another potential benefit for Greene: the role would have placed her solidly within another heavy-hitting franchise.

Either the rumors were false, or Greene contended for the role and ultimately lost out to Emma Roberts. The daughter of actor Eric Roberts and niece of mega-star Julia, said “I’m so excited to be part of this ground-breaking franchise. It’s the perfect opportunity for me to do something completely different than I’ve ever done before.”

Director/producer Wes Craven added, “Emma’s talent, beauty, and range will add immensely to the sophistication, intensity, and fun of the Scream franchise as it returns to the screen once more.”
