Simon Cowell to be honored by BAFTA

Hollywoodnews.com: Simon Cowell will be lauded by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts at the BAFTA Television Awards.

The “American Idol” judge and creator will receive a special award for shepherding talent on June 6.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, John Willis, chair of BAFTA’s TV committee, said he was “delighted” to recognize “one of the most brilliant entertainment producers of our time.” Previous honorees include “United 93” director Paul Greengrass and BBC drama chief Jane Tranter.

Cowell, will be launching “X-Factor” in the U.S. later this year. He recently served his last year as judge on “American Idol.”
