Gary Coleman’s ex-wife: Why I pulled the plug
Hollywoodnews.com: Gary Coleman’s ex-wife, Shannon Price, pulled the plug on the sitcom actor last Friday as she didn’t want him to suffer like Parkinson-stricken Muhammad Ali or late coma patient Terri Schiavo.
Coleman gave Price the power in an Advanced Health Care Directive to end his life support, even though she wasn’t his wife at the time.
“[The doctors] said even if they did take a chunk out of his brain, he would not be the same. He would be basically like Muhammed Ali,” Shannon Price said in a TMZ video.
“And he would have died sooner or later anyway from that,” she continued.
“I don’t want people to be so hard on me, thinking I had to pull the plug too early. He wouldn’t have made it anyway. His heart would have just given out.”
Price, 24, has been falsely accused by the media that she wanted Coleman dead. She was with Coleman in his Utah home when he incurred a head injury from a mysterious fall. Upon hearing the fall from the upstairs master bedroom, Price phoned 911 after she found Coleman “bubbling at the mouth.” The actor died from a brain hemorrhage.
