Dakota Fanning continues “Eclipse” promotional campaign with Today Show appearance

By Kim Palacios

hollywoodnews.com: Though, in the Twilight Saga books, the Volturi character, Jane, is relatively minor, Dakota Fanning’s star power is such that she has been heavily emphasized as part of the films’ promotional machine. Appearing prominently in official photos and as part of rare, major appearances attended by the major star trifecta, the franchise seems to be milking her influence for as much benefit as it can. On Monday, she will appear on The Today Show to promote “Eclipse”.

In recent memory are Fanning’s high profile appearances on The Oprah Show on two important occasions: the first was as the emcee introducing the world premiere of the second official trailer; the second was her appearance as the only star beyond Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner to appear on the episode dedicated to the promotion of “Eclipse”.

The Jane character is also quite noticeable in the “New Moon” film and in official promotional materials for “Eclipse”. In Stephenie Meyer’s books, the Jane character is among a small handful of the Volturi guard whose stories the reader comes to know, but in marketing materials and in the film screenplays the parts in which she appears in the book are amplified and she is positioned as more of a leader. Despite this discrepancy, fans aren’t complaining. Fanning’s talents are well-loved and she is famous for a reason.
