MTV Movie Awards round-up, Sandra Bullock collects top award

Hollywoodnews.com: What didn’t happen at this year’s MTV Movie Awards? The cable network’s kudo telecast upstaged even the Golden Globes as the award ceremony with the most hysterical moments.

Watching the show, one knew the night was off to a great start when Justin Bieber told host Aziz Ansari in his dressing room that he was there to make the girls go crazy. At which point Bieber turned on a blow dryer and dried his puppy dog ‘do.

Other highlights included Tom Cruise’s “Tropic Thunder” producer/ film executive Les Grossman foul-mouthing and gyrating to hip-hop tunes. At one point, Grossman rudely interrupted Ed Helm’s piano-rendition of “The Hangover” tune “Stu’s Song” (complete with dance routine by the film’s Ken Jeong in a leopard female bathing suit); demanding that the two immediately leave the stage.

“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” rallied five of the ceremony’s 12 popcorn statues. There was also an exclusive clip from “The Twilight Saga: The Eclipse” which screened to screaming fans.

Sandra Bullock became the first female recipient to receive MTV’s top honor, the Generation Award. Bullock celebrated by kissing presenter Scarlett Johansson onstage. Bullock was joined by her former co-stars Bradley Cooper and Betty White.

“Sandy, I know I’m not alone in saying I hope you know how loved you are,” said Cooper who starred with Bullock in “All About Steve, “Both for your incredible talent and for being such a humble and effervescent woman. I know you by many names: Sandra B., Sands, S Bomb, Supreme, Sausage, Sanda Duche.”

“You’re a once-in-a-generation talent,” he added. “You inspire me with the ability to shine through any darkness, and congratulations on this award.”

Bullock pulled out a piece of paper and read: “I am not dead. Number 2, everybody has cellulite, not just me. Paparazzi need more flattering lenses. Whoever established the high road and how high it was going to be should be fired. And I’ve never gone 14 days without showering, while chain-smoking while crying on the shoulder of my sweet aunt Ludie, because I shower twice a day, I don’t smoke and sweet Aunt Ludie died a year ago.”

Bullock asked Johansson why she was presenting, to which the actress replied that she was filling in for hubby Ryan Reynolds, who shared a nice slow kiss with Bullock in “The Proposal.” This set-up an awkward moment for Bullock to smooch Johansson in homage to that scene.

“Now that we have done that, can we please go back to normal,” Bullock pleaded.

Host Aziz Ansari’s jokes were stellar with knocks on 3-D films, “Avatar” and “Twilight.” Ansari deflated the whole idea that “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” actually had a cliffhanger. The stand-up had been practicing his jokes around L.A. at the UCB theater and other comedy venues over the last two weeks
