Elton John sings at Rush Limbaugh’s wedding for $1 million
Hollywoodnews.com: Conservative right was entertained by far flung left after radio commentator Rush Limbaugh hired Elton John to sing at his wedding.
Per People magazine, John, who is an outspoken gay civil-union advocate, crooned to a crowd of 400 until the late hours of Saturday. Limbaugh, 59, tied the knot with Kathryn Rogers, 33, in Palm Beach, Florida.
Price for Limbaugh to hire Elton John: $1 million. Given John’s politics, it’s jaw-dropping to hear that he would actually play at the wedding of someone so controversial as Limbaugh. No word as to whether John will donate his paycheck to charity.
The wedding included an all-star line-up from the Republican party including: former Bush adviser Karl Rove; actor-politician Fred Thompson; former Kansas City Royals slugger George Brett; Fox News commentator Sean Hannity; former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani; New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft; former Clinton adviser James Carville and his wife, GOP analyst Mary Matalin; and golfer Tom Watson. One of the few liberals at the party: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
Limbaugh first met Rogers during a charity golf tournament six years ago. This is Limbaugh’s fourth time up the aisle.
Rogers ties to politics include being a direct descendant of President John Adams. Also, her father attended the U.S. Naval Academy with 2008 Republican Presidential candidate John McCain.
So what were the songs that Elton John should have sang at Limbaugh’s wedding? Let’s hear your thoughts. Do you think John should have sang “I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues” to the bride? Or how about “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?”
Or whatta about “Tiny Dancer” for Limbaugh? And why wasn’t Lady Gaga there for a duet? The two could have re-enacted their entire explosive Grammy set.
