Twilight “Eclipse” soundtrack to top Billboard charts?

By Kim Palacios

HollywoodNews.com: Will the Twilight “Eclipse” soundtrack top Billboard charts? Stating an expectation that the album could sell as many as 160,000 copies by June 13th, Reuters speculates that the soundtrack will make its debut on the Billboard 200 at #1.

“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” is going up against Christina Aguilera’s first studio release in nearly four years and the latest EP from the cast of the Fox TV show ‘Glee.'”, said an industry prognosticator to Reuters. The publication cited other sources that predicted the “Glee” album “might sell around 110,000 to 130,000 while Aguilera’s “Bionic” could move 100,000 to 120,000 copies.”

What is the basis for these predictions? The history of the “Twilight” and “New Moon” soundtrack sales, of course. “’New Moon,’ was released on a Friday and sold 115,000 in just three days, debuting at No. 2. In its first full week, it sold 153,000 and moved up to No. 1,” reported Reuters

With hot artists like Muse (pictured), Beck, and Vampire Weekend, fans were anticipating a hit. Though reviews of the album have been very positive on the whole, some fans say it is not their favorite Twilight soundtrack of the three. Another early indicator could be public forum ratings such as those on Amazon.com, on which the “Eclipse” soundtrack is not as highly rated as its competitor, the “Journey to Regionals” album for “Glee”.

What Part Of Forever is my favorite track, not at all what I would have expected by a Cee Lo Green performance. The lyrics really move me.
