Twilight: Kristen Stewart stalker buzz intensifies

By Kim Palacios

HollywoodNews.com: When, on June 2nd, I first wrote about Kristen Stewart‘s stalker confession in Elle UK magazine, few other outlets seemed to care about the story. Yet, recent speculation that Stewart isn’t taking her stalker seriously has pushed the issue farther into to the spotlight.

“I have one crazy stalker,” Stewart told Elle UK. “It’s not worth changing my number for, I’m pretty certain that it’s some girl who got my number from someone I went to school with who’s like, ‘I’ve got Kristen Stewart’s number.” This cavalier attitude is exactly what now has some worried that Stewart is not taking the threat of her stalkers more seriously.

The Chicago Sun Times quoted a source close to Stewart, a “Hollywood honcho” who insisted the actress refuses to be intimidated. “She insists that no crazy ‘will keep [her] from living [her] own life“, said the source before expressing concern: “But this isn’t like the paparazzi — who Kristen understandably hates because they are so intrusive. These people can be dangerous.”

The star’s emerging position on the issue is certainly interesting, since her earlier comments on the intrusiveness of her public seemed designed to invite pity. Whereas she once portrayed herself as shy and fearful of such aggressive attention (such as her confession about being afraid to drive anywhere alone), current reports and recent actions (such as flipping the double-bird to Sydney paparazzi) indicate that perhaps the star is growing a spine.

Regardless of her personal positions, the star’s handlers will surely be on top of it; Stewart has been known to travel with an entourage of bodyguards for quite some time. In case traditional security fails, The Fab Life recommended putting Stewart’s notoriously protective fans on the job. Said the blog, Stewart’s fans would “come at [Stewart’s stalkers] stronger than an army of newborn vamps.”
