Michael Jackson’s anniversary bringing out the vultures

By Roger Friedman

HollywoodNews.com: The vultures around Michael Jackson have circled June 25th–the first anniversary of his death– for their first attacks.

That’s the day Ian Halperin, sleazy tabloid muckracker, airs his “Gone Too Soon” film on the TV Guide Network. Halperin has already feasted on Michael Jackson’s remains with a book last year. Now he comes with an editorial film in which he interviews the D list from the Jackson outer circle about their knowledge of Jackson’s life. It will be interesting to see how he handles not having Jackson’ s music in his film, let alone the people who really knew him. Expect much heavy weighing in from the illustrious Tohme R. Tohme.

Even better: June 25th is also launch date for a, ahem, book by Leonard Rowe, erstwhile concert promoter. Rowe was in cahoots with Joseph Jackson before Michael died to try and wrest control of the London “This Is It” concerts from AEG Live. Rowe and Jackson actually called this reporter a few weeks prior to Michael’s passing, thinking they could enlist my help in this effort. I essentially hung up on them. For a short time, Rowe wormed his way into Michael’s good graces before he was fired. Yes, Rowe was fired in writing by Michael Jackson. Now he wants to sell his side of the story.

Joe’s age and relationship with his son is irrelevant, the point of having to find out what happened and how much the Estate is making is to assure the right amount of money is allotted to the kids and Katherine. Nothing is being disclosed by the Executors and someone is protecting Murray Part of the money the Estate is making is supposed to go to Michael’s children.

Branca has a history of embezzling money from Michael, the Executors will rape and pillage Michael’s music, image and name with no opportunity for the children to have a say in what they will do with their Daddy’s legacy. So how can the Jackson family know the children are getting the right amount of money when the Estate Executors are not letting anyone know the amount made since Michael’s death!

Thank goodness Joe Jackson is speaking out about the greed and abuse of Michael’s career. Katherine’s hands are tied she cannot contest or protest. There’s valid reasons why Joe is pushing for justice and for the Executors to expose how much Michael is worth dead and who benefits because of it….he is pushing the Estate to disclose the TRUTH.

Please open your eyes to the conspiracy Michael himself spoke of surrounding him!
    Here’s PROOF…..

God Bless Michael, his children and family. There can be no peace until there is justice.

Why are you telling a lie on Mr. Rowe – I happen to know him personally. From what I’ve heard about the book.it is the truth about your friends John Branca and Randy Phillips, He has never tried make himself as the promoter of the London shows. it is obvious that you work for Randy Phlllips and Frank Dileo. I never hear you say anything about the people who are really profiting from Michael;s death, your friends. Michael’s fans are accusing your friends of Michael’s death. Why doh’t you ever speak about that.

It is obvious that you are on Randy Phillips and AEG ‘s payroll. You are such scum bag. The nerve of you to call someone else a muckracker. If you take this post down, It wil be definitive proof that you are on their payroll,

Well, maybe Joe Jackson and Mr. Rowe were trying to “wrest control of the London “This Is It” concerts from AEG Live” because they knew what was going on and that Michael’s life was in danger. Michael was afraid for his life. Some say he was “paranoid”. Well, he was afraid for his life and now he’s dead. That doesn’t sound so paranoid to me. I hope that the truth of all of this comes out and those responsible for Michael”s death are punished.

I marvel at how the family of Michael Jackson, including his father, have absolutely no say in his legacy now that he has passed. What place does an estate have on all marketing in Michael’s memory with little disclosure of the money that is being made since he passed.
I too believe Joe Jackson had his son’s best interest at heart after he found out Michael agreed to the shows. There was much concern for Michael in his last years by his family, but none of Michael’s handlers would let them in. They kept them at arm’s length and it is possible, Michael allowed it because he did not want them to know the seriousness of his drug addiction. It is very unfortunate about the past relationship Michael had with his father because if he trusted him and let Joe into his life at the end, he may still be alive today.

Thank you, Roger Freidman for always keeping in mind the well-being of Michael Jackson’s
precious children: Prince, Paris, and Blanket in mind.

crusindeb you are right on the money– FINALLY – the message is getting thru— Joe Jackson is not greedy — Joe Jackson is not an ass!!
MJ’s fans should be his greatest allies—go to you tube and check out “the hi-jacking of michael jacksons estate” parts 1&2 — and THEN decide. Never mind the kids and Katherine- see if you agree that others should prevail above and beyond Michael’s own flesh and blood.
To all the die-hard fans- you must have all missed MJ’s Harvard speech where he speaks of his forgiveness and understanding of his father’s ways….If MJ could let go of his childhood idealogies then why can you all NOT????

If Michael Jackson wanted Joe Jackson to have anything to do with MJ’s children, legacy, Estate, money & whatever, Michael wouldn’t have left Joe Jackson out of the will. It is well documented that Michael was physically/psychologically abused & bullied by Joe Jackson. Undoubtedly, the elder Jackson contributed to the success of the Jackson 5 with his training & managing skills – he also profited from them. If Katherine Jackson trusted Joe Jackson, she wouldn’t have gotten a separate, different lawyer to represent her. Brian Oxman represents Joe, not Katherine. Tom Mehserle, the brilliant lawyer who led the defense In Michael’s trial which resulted in total acquittal, fired Oxman for sleeping in court.

IMO, sperm donation only takes you so far and Joe Jackson did more than enough to extract golden eggs from his son Michael in his lifetime. It looks like he’s not going to stop now that Michael’s dead, it’ll probably only get worse. After all, it wasn’t too long after Michael’s death that Joe said in an interview on the red carpet (for the MTV VMAs, I believe) that Michael was worth more dead than alive – before he corrected himself.

  • June 11, 2010 | Permalink |

P.S. Let’s not forget that Michael Jackson fired Leonard Rowe in writing. Personal knowledge isn’t proof enough. People accusing Branca & others should provide proof from at least 2 reliable mainstream, non-tabloid sources (e.g., NY Times, LA Times, Time, Newsweek, CNN/ABC/CBS/NBC – not Fox, AP/Reuters).

Of course, Michael Jackson would say he forgave & understood. Many adults abused as children do – that doesn’t mean the slate is wiped clean and that they’re going to let themselves and – especially – their children continue to be taken advantage of. Read the July 2010 Vanity Fair issue Making of Thriller article, and director John Landis’ description of how Michael asked that Joe be removed from the set. Watch the original Oprah interview and see Michael say how he’d “regurgitate” – a polite way of saying throw up – when Joe would come, Michael was so scared. When Oprah re-aired that show on her premiere week in 2009, she said she believed Michael because of the look in his eyes.

I heard the ABC broadcast of Rabbi Boteach’s tape of Michael saying how Joe used to strip him, oil him down, and whip him with the iron cord all over his body, head and face. And you talk about blood and flesh being trustworthy? What about Cain & Abel? The guy who sold his birthright for a mess of pottage? The Bible & history are full of fles & blood betraying/murdering each other for money.

The Court is who’s keeping Branca etc. honest. The Court is watching with an eagle eye. So is Katherine’s lawyer. So is the lawyer especially appointed to separately represent the children so there’s no conflict of interest with Katherine or Branca etc.

It’w not Branca etc. who’ve made a lot of money to go to Katherine (40%), the kids (40%) and Michael’s preferred charities (20%) we should keep an eye on and be afraid of. It’s Joe Jackson & Co. Michael Jackson had plenty of reason for leaving Joe out of the will, and since he’s not in it, he has no business or right knowing anything about it – just like the rest of us the public doesn’t.

Ian Halperin is aliar and an oppotunist. the estate should sue him. he is grasping at last clutches to get money from mj.he recent lies about angelina and brad did not give him any credibility .

  • June 11, 2010 | Permalink |

Thank you so much, Ligaya! You seem to be the only commenter on here that speaks with some sense. Joe Jackson is a liar, cheat and child abuser. Michael has never meant any more to him than just money in his pocket. Michael put Branca and McClain in charge of his estate b/c he knew they would do the proper job in handling. Yes, all business dealings and transactions are being disclosed to the parties involved that is the executors and the beneficiaries (Katherine Jackson). At any time, KJ has the right to object to anything she deems the estate doing as unfair. This attempt by Joe to brainwash the fans and public is nothing more than an attempt to gain control of MJ in death, just as he had in life. Michael is taking care of what mattered most to him, his mother and his 3 precious children. The rest of his lazy ass family can work for themselves! Love you, MJ! I hope one day you can finally rest in peace.

  • June 11, 2010 | Permalink |

Amen, Ligaya! I don’t know what else anyone could say to proove that Joe Jackson is just plain no good. And some of his children are the same way. Sorry to say that, but it is true. The public has no right to know what is in that will, the trust or how much the estate has made. Katherine and the kids are being well taken care of. It’s the other vultures in the family that need to be watched. By the way, why does everyone think MJ named Diana Ross as successor guardian for his kids instead of any of his siblings. Yes, it seems very odd, but during the past year I have come to understand why now. MJ loved DR very much and knew she would be a good mother and protector to his kids. Besides, she has no interest in his estate b/c she has plenty of her own money. MJ didn’t even want Debbie Rowe near her own kids b/c she’s only been after his money as well. He truly had very few people he could trust. I still worry about MJs kids being around his family and possibly being brainwashed.

I read Halperin’s book and it was excellent, very respectful to Michael’s memory. It provEd beyond any doubt that Michael was innocent of child molestation. And it had already been finished when MJ died, proving that Halperin wasn’t simply cashing in on Michael’s death. He just added a final chapter. Is Roger Friedman jealous that Halperin had a number one bestseller while he is forced to write on an obscure blog? Or did Roger even read Halperin’s book? Ironically, in Halperin’s book, he credits Friedman as one of the best authorities on Michael and says only nice things about Roger.

Whatever Rowe’s motivation, I believe he has the inside story and I wanna hear it.

  • June 12, 2010 | Permalink |

The diversity of these comments just shows how difficult it is to have an objective view. I hope some day we learn the true story of Michael’s life and all these people’s role – his family, di Leo, Branca, et all. I do recommend the July Vanity Fair story of The Making of Thriller. There is some new information in it, not all positive, but from sympathetic sources.

Thank you Mr. Friedman for exposing the lying, greedy, people that MJ had to deal with his whole entire life.

    We miss you Michael!!

Tohme Tohme, Rowe & Halprin; some combination…
More & more people are now learning the genuine, respectful character of Michael Jackson. Meanwhile, people are beginning to see through the greed & demented behavior that has surroundied MJ.
“sleazy tabloid muckracker”, you’ve got that right.
    Thank you Mr.Friedman.

Yes, thank you Mr. Friedman. A journalist that prints truth, how refreshing! Ian Halperin is dispicable, and I can’t understand TV Guide for airing his garbage! Are they desperate? It was clear in his first book that he was a fringe person, at best, in Michael Jackson’ s life. Printing half truths, untruths and opinions, which I think his video will also consist of. I am glad that more people are seeing these things for what they are worth….not the film they are printed on.

Thank you to the comments by Ligaya and MJ Fan…obviously you two are using some intelligence in this issue of Joe Jackson. There are some MJ fans that truly believe that MJ’s death goes beyond Dr. Murray and that Joe Jackson is correct. News Flash: Just because Joe Jackson is saying something that may end up being factual, does NOT mean he loves or cares about Michael OR that he is even making the accusation because he wants truth and justice. Joe Jackson is out for Joe Jackson…I believe that to be true when Mike and his brothers were kids too (although I do acknowledge that I was not there to witness them growing up and it is possible that he did and does “love” them)…but he is a shady character and doesn’t care now. Be consistent people, if you think this author may be on AEG’s payroll, then why can’t Joe Jackson ALSO be on someone’s payroll ( his own)?
