Twilight’s Ashley Greene auditioned five times before landing Alice role

HollywoodNews.com: In a recent interview on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, star Ashley Greene talked about her path to acting and to Twilight. Beginning with her Christian upbringing in Jacksonville, Greene described convincing her mother to let her attend an alternative high school, and convincing her again to let her move to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
“I get very passionate about things,” said Greene of her high school career. “I wanted to go to a magnet school that specialized in law and psychology. I wanted to be a lawyer. Well…I thought I wanted to be a lawyer. I found out—thank God—that I liked the act of them on trials, I kind of liked being up there in front of the class and pretending to be a lawyer. What better field to go into if you want to pretend to be a lawyer than acting?”
So, at the age of 17, Greene graduated early from high school and moved to Los Angeles alone. She paid her dues for two years, through tiny apartments, crazy roommates, and early parts on shows like “Crossing Jordan”, “MadTV”, and “Desire” before finding the world of Twilight.
“I had to audition five times. It was a process. I was, I think, 19 or 20 when I got the role. I basically had to go in, and I auditioned for Bella and that didn’t work out…I was no Bella. And so then they asked me to come back in for Alice, and you know I went in and auditioned three times and finally they gave it to me.”
