Twilight Wolfpack actors support Be The Shift

By Kim Palacios

hollywoodnews.com: Similar to Cullen patriarch actor, Peter Facinelli, who has engaged thousands of Twilighters in supporting Alex’s Lemonade Stand, alpha wolf actor Chaske Spencer has led the Twilight community in supporting Be the Shift. It is an organization dedicated to responding to pressing Native American community issues, including a current crisis among South Dakota’s Lakota Sioux. For the launch party on June 14th, wolfpack actors packed right in to help.

Monday’s event saw not only Spencer (who plays Sam Uley) but also Tinsel Korey (Sam’s girlfriend, Emily), Julia Jones (Leah Clearwater), Alex Meraz (wolfpack member, Paul), and Tyson Houseman (Quil Ateara). In addition to attending the event, many of the stars have promoted the organization through their Twitter accounts as well as recorded Public Service Announcements (PSAs).

Be The Shift’s mission is threefold: to create awareness of current issues and conditions facing Native American communities; to create alternatives that promote dignity, justice, unity, and accountability; and to take action that supports the creation of these alternatives. Said Spencer to Twilighters Anonymous, “What we’re trying to do is give a voice to people who usually don’t have a voice, and not depend on outside sources like governments and corporations when we can do it ourselves.”

Though the focus of a major push was the Lakota Sioux’s critical need to rebuild resources after a natural disaster, the organization stresses that its goal is sustainable change.
