Bradley Cooper to hit homerun in new baseball film
HollywoodNews.com: Bradley Cooper is attached to an untitled baseball pitch from screenwriter Allan Loeb, who recently penned “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.”
Disney bought the story.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the drama-comedy has a realistic bent as far as major league baseball is concerned: It focuses on a big league player, who after being injured, is demoted to the minor leagues. While there, he is championed back to form by an old baseball guru. The project is described as a cross between “Scent of a Woman” and “The Rookie.”
Producer Andrew Panay, who is on board to oversee, hatched the idea with his development executive Adam Blum.
The project is said to be in the vein of “Scent of a Woman” and the Dennis Quaid 2002 baseball drama “The Rookie.”
Loeb has several projects in the works including Ron Howard‘s dramedy “Cheaters” and New Line’s re-boot of “Escape From New York.” The writer was also behind “The Switch,” the Adam Sandler-Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy that is bowing in August.
