International “Eat, Pray, Love” trailer hits the Web

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Hollywood’s summer often gets dismissed as a season for boys and their toys. And with the presence if “Iron Man 2,” “The A-Team” and this weekend’s “Jonah Hex,” it’s hard to argue.

Maintaining that analogy, Sony’s upcoming “Eat, Pray, Love” with Julia Roberts is “Transformers” for audience members with estrogen. It’s tailored for a female audience, who has devoured author Liz Gilbert’s biographical best-seller and eagerly awaits the Aug. 13 release date.

This morning, we get our first glimpse at an international trailer for the film, which has been directed by “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy. It’s hosted by the UK site HeyYouGuys.com.

In the film, Roberts plays Gilbert, who went embarked on a spiritual journey after leaving her husband and globetrotting through Italy, India, and Bali. James Franco, Richard Jenkins, Viola Davis, Billy Crudup and Javier Bardem co-star.

What do you think of the trailer? Does it whet your whistle? Or are you seeing “Eat, Pray, Love” no matter what it looks like?
