Twilight Father’s Day Special: “Eclipse” is more “guy friendly”

By Tracy Rosenfield

hollywoodnews.com: For all you dads out there, take note: Taylor Lautner, among other cast members, have stated that “Eclipse” is much more guy friendly than the previous two films, “Twilight” and “New Moon.” By now you’ve likely seen at least one trailer or television spot which shows some of the action sequences that occur in “Eclipse,” the third film in “The Twilight Saga.”

With director David Slade (“30 Day of Night”) at the helm, fans had high hopes he’d get the action right in the film while still allowing the love story to carry through. So far, comments have been extremely positive about the film, with nary a complaint to be heard.

“Eclipse” focuses around a newborn vampire army and its attempt to hunt and kill Bella Swan. Behind this attack is Victoria, a vampire wanting vengeance against Edward for killing her mate, James, in the first film. Instead of killing Edward, Victoria seeks an eye-for-an-eye by attempting to kill Edward’s love, Bella. Bella is protected by both The Wolpack and The Cullens, so they ultimately come together for an all out bad vampire-good vampire-werewolf showdown outside of Forks.

Though the newborn fight may be considered the climax of the movie, there are many other action filmed moments in the film, including werewolf-Cullen fighting and a few attempts at killing Victoria before the final battle.

With more action and stronger special effects, “Eclipse” is not only the most guy-friendly of the three films, it also might be the best.

So dads, take your daughters and wives to see “Eclipse” this summer. You won’t regret it.
