Infinitus 2010: A Harry Potter Conference

By Hanako M. Ricks

HollywoodNews.com: For those of you who haven’t heard, a group of about 2000 witches and wizards will descend on Orlando, FL next month as part of Infinitus 2010, a Harry Potter Conference taking place July 15 – 18 at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort. Infinitus attendees ages 5 and up will enjoy a weekend of educational panels, vendor rooms, meet-up groups, as well as an Infinitus-only event after hours at “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,” which opened this past weekend to rave reviews from fans. Chris Rankin, who has portrayed Percy Weasley throughout the eight-film series, and Christopher Coulson, who gave fans the first glimpse of teenage Tom Riddle in the film Chamber of Secrets, are both scheduled to attend this event.

Highlights of the four-day conference will include the following:

Thursday – Welcome Feast; live action Wizard Chess and Quidditch games, Wizard Rock concerts, and writing workshops with Young Adult novelist Joyce Sweeney

Friday – “Night of a Thousand Wizards” event at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter; Keynote Luncheon with several “fandom-trained” writers – these writers are all fan-fiction writers who became professional writers

Saturday – Quidditch tournament; Q&A & photo sessions with Chris Rankin and Christian Coulson; Keynote Luncheon with Kelvin Tuite, who has worked on various HP games as Franchise Creative Director for EA Games’ Bright Light studio; and the “Night of Frivolity” Ball

Information on the conference, including pricing and schedules for all four days can be found at the Infinitus website.
