“Shrek” spin-off, “Puss,” launches Web site and shows new characters

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: As the movie world turned its collective attention to a third “Toy Story” this weekend, DreamWorks fired back by reminding audiences that Buzz and Woody aren’t the only beloved, animated heroes at the multiplex.

The Web site, PussInBootsTheMovie.com, launched this morning, giving hints as to the story that will be told when the “Shrek” prequel opens November 2011.

Antonio Banderas once again will voice the suave, brave Puss. In this story, which focuses on the early days of the feline adventurer, he’ll be joined by Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) and a black-and-white love interest named Kitty, voiced by Salma Hayek. A “Desperado” reunion in an animated family comedy? Be still my beating heart!

Visit the site and click “Read the Story” to get your first glimpse of Kitty.

What do you think? Has the “Shrek” train run its course? Are you interested in a Puss In Boots spin off? Or do you just want a fourth “Toy Story” film, as they are as close to perfection as we have seen in some time? Let us know.
