Lady Gaga performs new song, reveals theme of ‘bitter’ upcoming album
By Whitney Milam
HollywoodNews.com: Lady Gaga debuted an all-new song she called “You and I” at Elton John’s 12th Annual White Tie and Tiara ball this week, and it’s a melodic, soft-rock ballad speculated to be about her recent ex. Lady Gaga herself states, only somewhat ironically, “It’s a rock-n-roll song, which probably means it’s never going to be released as one of my singles,” but you can check out a live recording of the impromptu performance here–what do you think, little monsters?
In related news, a few choice quotes from Gaga’s current Rolling Stone cover interview are making the rounds online, and fans should be especially interested in talk of her newest upcoming (as yet untitled) album, which she seems to imply will have a gay rights theme. Several analysts of the recently released Alejandro video have found it to be making a condemning statement on Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, a theory apparently supported by a few of Gaga’s own recent tweets, and if her latest statements are anything to go by, that particular theme won’t be going away anytime soon.
“Why are we still talking about ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’?” she asks in the Rolling Stone interview. “It makes me crazy. And I have been for three years baking cakes—and now I’m going to bake a cake that has a bitter jelly. The message of the new music is now more bitter than it was before.”
Is the world ready for a more serious, politically-flavored album full of Lady Gaga’s newest confections? She may call that bitter, but we say sweet.
