Elijah Wood throws his hat into the TV ring

Hollywoodnews.com: Elijah Wood is shaking his Frodo “Lord of the Rings” character and starring opposite Jason Gann in the new FX comedy pilot “Wilfred.”

The series, according to the Hollywood Reporter is based on an Australian sitcom created by and starring Gann. Wood plays a character by the name of Ryan, while Gann will continue to play Wilfred. Story revolves around Ryan, his female neighbor and a mixed breed dog named Wilfred who is both loyal and crazy.

Wood will next star in Galt Niederhoffer’s “The Romantics” alongside Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel and Anna Paquin. Wood will also have another voiceover in the sequel to “Happy Feet” due out in 2012.

Wood’s film “The Oxford Murders” received a great deal of play abroad, but was never booked stateside in a theater.
