Serena Williams makes it to the finals at Wimbledon for the sixth time
By Greg Hernandez
HollywoodNews.com: Serena Williams has stopped the madness at Wimbledon by winning her semifinal match earlier today and has booked a place in the finals on Saturday for the sixth time.
She will be heavily favored to beat Vera Zvonareva, a former top 5 player making a strong comeback.
After Roger Federer, Andy Roddick and Serena’s sister Venus suffered shocking losses in recent days, I was afraid finals weekend was going to be a case of Who? vs. Who?
But three-time champion Serena has made it through and assured that at least one of the Williams sisters will play in the singles final for nine out of the last 10 years. Venus has won five times and lost three finals to her sister. Serena lost the 2004 final to Maria Sharapova. Neither sister played in the final in 2006 when Amelie Mauresmo beat Justine Henin.
