Ricky Gervais Supports Steve Carrell’s Decision to Leave “The Office”

HollywoodNews.com: Even though it would be breaking the hearts of every loyal fan of “The Office,” Steve Carrell announced his decision to leave the acclaimed comedy earlier this week. And what’s more, producer Ricky Gervais supports his decision.

Gervais, who starred in the British version of the award-winning show, confessed that even though Carrell’s decision to leave will likely cause the show to lose fans and money, he thinks Carrell is making a smart move.

“It was of course inevitable (and sad), but I wish him all the luck in the world,” wrote Gervais on his blog. “He is quite possibly the nicest, hardest working man in America and it has been a joy working with him over the last six years. (And taking the piss out of him at every award show.)”

“”I’d be lying if I said he should do more. He shouldn’t. He should move on, continue to do great work, and buy a new house every time The Office is repeated somewhere. (That’s what I do. Maybe I’ll buy one next door to him one day. That’ll f–king teach him.) Good luck Steve.”

Even though we can’t imagine Dunder Mifflin without Michael Scott, we can’t argue with with the incomparable David Brent.
