Mindy Kaling wants Dwight to replace Michael on ‘The Office’

HollywoodNews.com: With Michael Scott leaving Dunder Mifflin later this year when Steve Carell’s contract expires without renewal, ‘The Office’ needs a new world’s best boss, and Emmy-nominated writer and producer Mindy Kaling (who plays Kelly Kapoor on the show) has cast her vote of confidence in Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute) for the job, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“That’s my dream,” Kaling says. “It certainly hasn’t been approved by people that are more powerful than me and who make those kinds of decisions.” Nonetheless, she adamently defends said dream with, “Dwight has become so nuanced—you actually care about him now…he would be a fantastic boss.”

Kaling was nominated for an Emmy on Thursday for co-writing the Jim and Pam wedding episode of the show with Executive Producer Greg Daniels.
