HP Alliance Wins $250,000 Grand Prize in Chase Community Giving Facebook Challenge

By Hanako M. Ricks

HollywoodNews.com: Well Potterholics, we did it!!! It was officially announced this morning that the HP Alliance was the grand prize winner of the $250,000 grand prize in the Chase Community Giving Challenge on Facebook. Fans, celebrities and Harry Potter fandom VIPs all rallied until midnight last night to get votes for the organization, which is dedicated to fighting illiteracy, inequality, and genocide.

Notables in the Harry Potter fandom community such as Andrew Slack (HP Alliance), Melissa Anelli (The Leaky Cauldron), Emerson Spartz and Andrew Sims (Mugglenet), actors Tom Felton, Chris Rankin and Nathan Fillion – even Warner Bros. (via their official @HarryPotterFilm Twitter account) were among the heavyweights who joined together with fans to promote the mission of the HP Alliance, using social network sites such as Facebook and Twitter to pass the message along.

Four other charities won prizes of $100,000 each, while 195 others won prizes of $20,000 each. In all, 200 charities all walked away with funds to help further their causes and to make a better world for everyone.

Congratulations to all the charities, and especially to the HP Alliance!!!
