Hollywoodnews.com: Production has begun on “One Day,” the feature-film version of David Nicholls’ acclaimed novel of the same name. The film stars Academy Award nominee Anne Hathaway (“Rachel Getting Married”) and Jim Sturgess (“21”), under the direction of Lone Scherfig (“An Education”).
Nicholls adapted his book into the “One Day” screenplay, and filming is underway in England, Scotland and France. The story involves the complicatd relationship between Emma (Hathaway) and Dexter (Sturgess), who meet on the night of their college graduation – July 15, 1988 — and continue to reconnect on the same date for the next two decades.
Hathaway and Sturgess will be joined by Romola Garai (“Atonement”), Jamie Sives (“Get Him to the Greek”), Rafe Spall (“Hot Fuzz”), Ken Stott (“Charlie Wilson’s War”), and Jodie Whittaker.
Focus Features plans to release “One Day” in the third quarter of 2011.
