Warner declares “World War X”

By Sean O’Connell Warner Bros. reportedly has picked up a script by Colin Trevorrow titled “World War X,” and the studio has set it up at Silver Pictures.

The story — according to Variety — involves a hero who is “recruited by a team of government agents to stop a terrorist from the future who is using time travel to reshape history.” Joel Silver and Andrew Rona will produce, though no potential directors have been mentioned.

Terrorism? Time travel? Where do we enlist? Seriously, this could be a very cool concept if handled properly. Then again, outside of a handful of films, time travel usually doesn’t work on the big screen. So we’ll see if this is played for laughs or thrills.
