Roman Polanski makes his first public appearance at Swiss jazz fest

HollywoodNews.com: Roman Polanski, free from house arrest, took in the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland on Saturday.

He was whisked into the event by tinted sport utility vehicles and surrounded by security.

Soon after Polanski’s entrance, according to a posting on Variety, his wife Emmanuelle Seigner performed the theme from her husband’s 1968 thriller, “Rosemary’s Baby.”

Polanski was released from house arrest on Monday by the Swiss Government. His son had the privilege of removing the arrest bracelet.

In a Swiss TV interview Saturday, Polanski gave his heartfelt gratitude to those who sent him “messages of support during those nine long months.”

“I would also certainly thank my wife Emmanuelle (and) my children, without whom I would have never been able to hold onto my dignity and perseverance,” he said.

“For the moment, I’m happy to be free and to be able to do the things I was kept from doing,” he said.

An Interpol warrant remains in effect for Polanski’s arrest in 188 countries for a 1977 child sex case.
