Jennifer Love Hewitt claims to understand prostitution

hollywoodnews.com: Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt has revealed that she can understand why some women become prostitutes after playing one in her new movie.

‘The Client List’ star, whose character Samantha sells her body in the new Lifetime movie, said she can see why she is left with no other choice. Talking on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show, Hewitt, 31, said: “Her husband has been injured and out of work, her massage-therapy job has been phased out, her kids need braces and their house is about to be foreclosed. “So she answers an ad in the paper for a massage-therapy position.” At first, Samantha enjoys the attention her new position brings her, but soon grows to dislike it when she gets more than she bargained for. Love Hewitt added: “Very quickly, her life sort of goes on a downward spiral, and I think she realises that there was probably more of the attention she was getting than she needed.”

‘The Garfield’ star said that she realized while preparing for the role that the reason why women turn to prostitution is to help their families survive through hard economic times and “sort of helping them in their personal lives as well”.

But she also ventured another reason for some women becoming prostitutes – they might not be getting the sexual attention they need at home and so turn elsewhere. She said: “Well, we have needs just like men do, and if men can go out and get their needs met, we will too. “It’s kind of crazy.”
