‘Twilight’ stars Kellan Lutz and Boo-Boo Stewart to co-star in werewolf-centric “Guardians of Luna”

By Kim Palacios It has just been announced that “Eclipse” stars Kellan Lutz (vampire Emmet Cullen) and Boo Boo Stewart (wolfpacker Seth Clearwater) will join the cast of “Guardians of Luna,” reports Cybergraphix Animation. In the straight-to-DVD feature anime film, Stewart will play Jake Segerstrom; Lutz’s character has not been announced.

The film comes in the wake of a 2008 television series with the same name (also produced by Cybergraphix Animation and distributed by FUNimation Entertainment). Though the story does not feature vampires, some plot lines are similar to those found in The Twilight Saga, including the presence of “good” and “bad” camps of supernaturals (werewolves in this case), and inter-species partnerships bound together by the will to protect something important (in this case, an ancient power source).

The “Guardians of Luna” project won’t represent the first time Twilight stars have worked together on separate projects. Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning recently co-starred as rockers Joan Jett and Cherie Curry in “The Runaways”. The film rendition of “Guardians of Luna” is described as containing themes of “dark action” and will release in 2011.
